Location: San Francisco, CA
URL: http://www.goldenbridgesschool.org

Description:

Pedagogical Director
Golden Bridges School

School Overview Golden Bridges School is a small, groundbreaking school in its 9th full school year. GBS was founded by Waldorf-trained teachers and currently operates in San Francisco’s Portola neighborhood, serving Preschool through 7th Grade, with 131 students and 42 staff members. We will be graduating our first 8th grade class next school year!

GBS is taking a fresh look at Waldorf education, asking what the children of today in San Francisco need from teachers and education in general. One major result of this question is the development of a robust outdoor curriculum. Each week, our Kindergarten spends two days in an indoor classroom, one day at our urban farm, and two days hiking in McLaren Park. Our grades classes are indoors for Main Lesson and some subject classes, spending additional days in large outdoor parks, at the school farm, or on field trips. 1st and 2nd grades often spend one full day a week outdoors in San Francisco’s parks. We are also dedicated to becoming an anti-racist school – committed to social justice, internally and externally – that is inclusive and welcoming to all. We incorporate both anthroposophy and social justice in our weekly faculty meetings, where we delve deeper into interrupting Euro- and white-centric curriculum to bring equitable teaching practices and anti-racist policies into the classroom and school life. We ask that teachers be interested and on a path of exploring both anthroposophy and social justice.

We are looking to hire a Pedagogical Director to begin work as soon as May 2022. We value both collaboration amongst teachers and freedom for individual teachers to create their own curriculum, so we are very much interested in having an inspired leader join and support our already high-functioning team. Our priorities at this time are to invite an experienced and Waldorf trained Pedagogical Director, who can help us bring cohesion, confidence and administrative support to our incredible educational program and team of teachers.

Job Description: Pedagogical Director to Serve in a Leadership and Administrative Role
● Build relationships with the Administrative Director, faculty, staff, parents, students, board members and community stakeholders.
● Help Administration and Faculty hone our vision for the future, in the middle of our 2nd 7 year cycle.
● Provide leadership in the school’s strategic planning and development initiatives.
● Work with faculty leaders, Board, and the Administrative Director to develop and refine school policies and procedures.
● Administrative contact for day-to-day programming, scheduling, teacher communication, teacher absences, etc.
Oversees committee work
Serves on the Leadership Team and College of Teachers
Provides and/or facilitates mentoring and annual evaluations for our faculty and subject teachers
● Represents the school at other professional meetings as required and appropriate.
● Supports enrollment process
● Ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees
Oversee Quality of Educational Program
● Organize Professional Development Program to ensure quality, consistency and coherence of the pedagogical program.
● Works collaboratively with the College of Teachers when considering program changes.
● Oversee and strengthen the mentoring process as that is authentic to GBS
