Pedagogical Administrative/Director's Assistant

Position Purpose: To provide efficient, effective and friendly coordination and execution of all office duties.
SUMMARY: The Austin Waldorf School (AWS) is seeking an experienced individual to assume the role of Administrative Assistant for the Pedagogical Directors (Administrator, Grades and High School Directors). This position provides a professional environment for our High School Office and central entry to our High School Austin Waldorf Campus (“AWS”). The position plays a central role on our team and will interact daily with parents, teachers and visitors to handle inquiries about school activities and policies. The Administrative Assistant plays a primary function in coordinating day-to-day routines that allow the all the pedagogical needs to run seamlessly. At AWS, this is characterized by wide-ranging responsibilities often conducted in an atmosphere of frequent interruptions and time constraints. The position is pivotal in facilitating the school’s educational purposes and the efficient daily operations.
Founded in 1980 and nestled on 33 acres in the beautiful hill country of central Texas, the Austin Waldorf School provides a unique education to students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. The curriculum is designed to meet each stage of a student’s development from early childhood, through adolescence, into young adulthood. The programs demonstrate a continued commitment to providing a well-rounded educational experience integrating academic, artistic, and practical disciplines. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s or Associates degree in a business-related discipline, preferred
- Minimum of Two (2) years of experience in a similar or comparable position
- Demonstrated ability to hold all parent/faculty/staff matters in confidence
- Efficient and effective with a warm demeanor in keeping with office responsibilities and regular contact with parents, teachers and students
- Knowledge of modern office methods, procedures, terms, equipment used in school office including, proficiency with computers and standard office software, spreadsheet, presentation, email, etc. including GSuite
- Strong business office telephone techniques and etiquette
- Basic math used in an office environment
- Excellent organizational skills and effectively plan, organize and prioritize work of self and others in a demanding environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-directed and able to carry out assignments without supervision
- Knowledge of principles of leadership, office organization and management, and public relations
- Enjoy working with children
- Works predominantly in an indoor, office environment, but other duties could involve working outside in various weather conditions
- Physical demands require predominately sitting and the routine use of standard office equipment. The noise level can vary depending on daily activity but will remain within moderate noise level ranges. You will frequently stand, walk, carry, reach, stoop, kneel and crouch. The work can involve light physical efforts, frequently exerting up to 10 pounds and occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds.
EMPLOYMENT DETAILS:
This is a twelve-month, hourly position with regular school hours (Monday-Friday 8 am-4 pm), ½ hour lunch.
