We are looking for a skilled Lead Cook to prepare delicious meals according to our menu. You will cook dishes that will delight our members with their taste and timely delivery and assist the Kitchen Manager as needed.

An excellent cook must be able to follow instructions in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals. They must be deft in moving around the kitchen and apt in multi-tasking. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is also important.

Responsibilities:

-Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
-Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat, etc.)
-Cook food in various utensils or grillers
-Check food while cooking to stir or turn
-Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
-Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
-Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
-Check the quality of ingredients
-Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages

Requirements and skills:

-Proven experience as a cook
-Experience in using cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware
-Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.)
-Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
-Ability to work in a team is a must
-Very good communication skills
-Excellent physical condition and stamina
-Adheres to policies and procedures for all food handling, storage, sanitation, and serving to ensure all regulations/directives governing food are met
-Holds room service cooks accountable for sanitation, aesthetics of food, and diet/order accuracy
-Assist the Kitchen Manager by mentoring, training, and supervising the kitchen staff, volunteers, and other workers with emphasis on cooking techniques, customer service, safety, and sanitation
-Read menu to estimate food requirements and requisition food or procure it from storage
-Maintain kitchen and serving areas in a clean, neat, and orderly manner in accordance with department and TDH sanitation standards
-Label, date and rotate food appropriately and returns unused foods to proper storage areas
-Prepare and assign production and prep work for Line Cooks/prep staff to complete
-Breakdown workstation and complete closing duties ensuring all Line Cooks' assignments are completed before they sign out
-May discuss dietetic issues with Kitchen Manager or nurses as needed

Education:

Having (or completing) an Associate or College Degree in Culinary, Culinary Arts, Associates, Communication, Education, Healthcare, Technical, Hospitality Management, Health studies will be an advantage
