Lower School Full Time Grade 8 Class Teacher 2022/2023

The Rudolf Steiner Lower School of Ann Arbor is seeking a Full Time Grade 8 Class Teacher for the 2022/2023 School year.

Located in Ann Arbor, Michigan on two beautiful campuses, our school offers a comprehensive Waldorf program that serves a diverse range of children. Our Lower School Campus, situated on 12 wooded and grassy acres, houses our Pre-Kindergarten through 8th Grades and currently enrolls 214 students. We offer a rich and engaging Waldorf curriculum that includes two world languages (Spanish and German), handwork, art, strings and orchestra, singing, games/movement and gardening.

A Grade 8 Class Teacher is a key member of RSSAA and must work closely with the other Faculty and the Lower School Coordinator to promote an exemplary educational program and maintain a positive learning environment. This teacher will be part of a four-person team holding the Middle School Program. This collaborative approach will allow teachers enough time for the academic work and will provide support for fieldtrips, activities and parent work. The Grade 8 Class Teacher shall implement the program as determined by the College of Teachers.

Training/Educational Requirements
The ideal candidate will:
• Hold a bachelors or Master degree
• Have training and experience working with the Waldorf curriculum and
• Hold a Waldorf Teacher Training Certificate
Teaching Responsibilities
• Implement the Waldorf curriculum as outlined in the RSSAA Scope and Sequence documents, and according to indications given by Rudolf Steiner.
• Teach 27 – 36 weeks of Main Lessons
• Teach 6-11 additional classes/periods
• Manage a minimum of 2 recesses per week
