Lead Kindergarten Teacher
Apr 08 2022 | Prairie Hill Waldorf School | Pewaukee, WI
Prairie Hill Waldorf School invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of full-time Kindergarten Lead teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. Candidates will have a bachelor’s degree with prior teaching experience. A Waldorf certificate or degree is preferred. The teacher will work collaboratively with an assistant in class as well as with co-workers within the Early Childhood department. We seek candidates who are committed to the values of Waldorf education, a teacher who is joyful and warm, with strong interpersonal communication skills, effective classroom management, and enthusiasm for teaching and learning.
Prairie Hill Waldorf School was founded in 1987 and is a full member of AWSNA (Association of Waldorf Schools of North America) and WECAN (Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America). We have over 120 students from pre-k to grade seven, robust parent and tot classes and an outstanding faculty and staff of 30. Our faculty is grounded in a commitment to anthroposophy and we have an enthusiastic and supportive parent body and board of trustees. We are an established, thriving school offering a Waldorf curriculum.
Prairie Hill Waldorf School is situated on 14 acres of land including gardens, fields, wetlands and small woods located in the beautiful Lake Country of Delafield between Milwaukee and Madison, Wi. Our families come from many areas in southeastern Wisconsin and are part of a strong and growing anthroposophical community that supports several biodynamic farms and the Michael Fields Agricultural Institute. Also available are a Lifeways Training Center, the Great Lakes Teacher Training program, anthroposophical medicine and a pharmacy, and many other opportunities. We are committed to providing a healthy, beautiful and sustainable environment which supports the pedagogical mission of the school.
Prairie Hill Waldorf Kindergarten is based on the belief that early childhood, birth to age 7, is a unique period of life that deserves nurturing, respect and time to grow. Our teachers are warm and inviting; able to balance the individuals needs with the collective rhythm of the class. Daily outdoor play is an integral part of the program. Our curriculum inherently provides opportunities for natural curiosity and joy of childhood. Salary for the position is dependent on teaching experience.
