Grade 3/4 Class Teacher

SCOPE OF THE POSITION: This is a lead position working out of Mulberry Waldorf School’s Vision and Mission and within our Governance Structure. The Grade School Class Teacher must work closely with other Faculty, Staff, and School Leadership to promote an exemplary Waldorf educational program and maintain a positive learning environment. Summer professional development, as assigned by the Human Resources Committee, planning, curriculum development, and classroom set-up is expected. Summer work must be developed such that some time with the outgoing teacher is available to collaborate.
KEY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION: The ideal candidate will have a passion for holistic education and the following qualifications:
Waldorf Teacher training and/or experience in Waldorf Education
Bachelor of Education Degree
Current Police Check, including the Vulnerable Sector Check
Current Standard First Aid Certification
The ideal candidate will:
Fulfill Teaching and Pedagogical Responsibilities (curriculum, supervision, assessments) with accountability to Pedagogical Chair and Human Resources Committee
Follow the school’s Code of Conduct: respecting self, others, and the environment
Follow the Confidentiality and Conduct Agreement
Experience delivering structured literacy and mathematics lessons
Have excellent organizational, communication, time management, and collaboration skills
Commit to continuing personal and professional development
Regarding COVID-19 pandemic, comply with Mulberry’s Shared Agreement for a Healthy Community and follow Public Health and the Ministry of Education directives
ABOUT MULBERRY: Mulberry Waldorf School is an independent school and a not-for-profit, charitable organization, established in 1996. We offer programs from birth through Grade Eight. Our School is located within an active downtown community in historic Kingston, with access to local parks, waterfront, conservation areas and provincial parks. Our Board of Directors, teachers, administration and parents work collaboratively to sustain the operations of the School.
COMPENSATION: Salary is determined based on qualifications and years of experience. The current base salary for Lead Teachers is $43,697. The school supports professional development as well as health allowances, mentoring, and tuition reduction for staff children.
