Lead Nursery Teacher
Apr 04 2022 | Lake Champlain Waldorf School | Shelburne, Vermont
Do you feel grounded and energized when you spend time with young children? Do you have boundless patience, a playful spirit, and a calm and caring approach to classroom management? Lake Champlain Waldorf School is seeking a lead teacher for a class of 4-10 toddler-aged children.
Our well-established K-12 school is both grounded and innovative, rooted in a developmental curriculum and reaching into the future through an educational emphasis on social, racial, and environmental justice. We offer a vibrant learning community, a consistently strong and capable Board of Trustees, and a clear and collaborative governance structure. Our two campuses are located on over 25 acres in beautiful northern Vermont. In addition to offering a cornucopia of outdoor recreational possibilities, the area is a rich artistic and cultural center, and has a major University and several colleges.
Come join an innovative team of faculty who are working to develop new models of teaching that serve the students of the 21st-century. Young people need now, more than ever, the capacities that are at the heart of our mission: creativity, compassion, collaboration, and problem-solving.
Position Description
Our nursery program, serving children ages 2-3, is intended to meet the needs of our community for warm, child-paced daycare. The Nursery Teacher works with an assistant unless there are 5 or fewer children in the class, and has a dedicated classroom with lots of natural light and easy access to the outdoors. The Nursery Teacher is an integral member of the Early Childhood Branch and will participate collaboratively in making the programming decisions that affect their students. This is a full-time position.
Salary and Benefits
We offer a base salary of $41,200 plus increments for experience or additional qualifications. Eligible employees also receive a healthcare stipend, 403(b) account, professional development funds, and tuition remission.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development or a closely related field
2+ years of experience caring for young children in a school or program setting
Willing and able to commit to Waldorf teacher training
