Grades Class Teacher

The Austin Waldorf School, a co-educational, K-12 day school located in Austin, Texas, seeks a full-time Class Teacher to begin July 1, 2022.
We are seeking a certified Waldorf teacher who has demonstrated success in teaching, and who is also interested in joining the Austin Waldorf School community for many years to come. Such an individual will model empathy, dynamism, flexibility, initiative, and collaboration skills. The candidate will demonstrate proficiency and comfort with classroom management and group facilitation, mastery of Waldorf curriculum and pedagogy, as well as skilled communication in writing and speaking. A core member of our grade school faculty, class teachers work closely with subject teachers and colleagues across sections to foster a welcoming, challenging, and adventurous learning environment for students.
Class teacher responsibilities include:
- Teach main lesson blocks throughout the year
- Teach regularly scheduled skills classes
- Contribute to weekly grade school meetings
- Lead parent mornings and offers developmental & curricular presentations
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians
- Collaborate with student support services and colleagues
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Waldorf Teacher Training Certification
- A commitment to advancing the work of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging

THE AUSTIN WALDORF SCHOOL
AWS is an established school community with an anticipated enrollment exceeding 385 students in pre-kindergarten – 12, for the 2022/2023 school year. AWS is accredited by the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) and the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS). Community events, such as festivals, concerts, plays, athletics, and adult education classes create an atmosphere of cultural enrichment.
