Summer Program Lead Teacher
Mar 22 2022 | Ithaca Waldorf School | Ithaca, NY
The Ithaca Waldorf School (www.ithacawaldorf.org) is seeking an enthusiastic, organized and motivated Lead Teacher for our Summer Program, five days/week from 8:30am-3:30pm from June 20th-August 19th. Ideal candidates are friendly and warm, open, joyful, and have experience working with children. For consistency, we prefer for the lead teacher to work the full 8 weeks of programming. The Ithaca Waldorf School has two summer programs offered one for ages 4-6 and the other for ages 7-11.
All candidates should be able to provide a safe, nurturing and orderly environment which meets the needs of the children in care. Outdoor play and visits to the neighboring organic farm are part of the daily program for children of all ages. Successful applicants are encouraged to bring age-appropriate games and hand-craft activities to the children for the Summer Program. Guidance will be provided by the Faculty mentors. Most of the time is spent outdoors, regardless of the weather. However, if indoors it is expected that the teacher will leave a clean and orderly classroom at the end of each day. Compensation is $20/hour for the Lead Teacher position.
Applicants should email a letter of interest, resume, three references including most recent school employer, and a brief biography, to the Hiring Committee c/o Danaka Olsen, Marketing and Enrollment Coordinator (dolsen@ithacawaldorf.org) by April 15th, 2022.
The independent, not-for-profit Ithaca Waldorf School is authorized by the New York State Department of Education to provide instruction through Grade 8. A fully-accredited member of the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (WECAN), we are currently a developing school with the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America. The Ithaca Waldorf School is nestled in the New York Finger Lakes on an 80-acre organic campus composed of field, forest and a biodynamic and educational farm (www.youthfarmproject.org).
Ithaca is home to Cornell University and Ithaca College, which offer our community a rich cultural life. The city is situated at the foot of beautiful Cayuga Lake, and is a wonderful place to raise a family. (www.visitithaca.com)
