Early Childhood Lead Teacher

Greetings!
The Micha-el School, in Milwaukie Oregon, is seeking a fun, organized, and caring Lead Early Childhood Waldorf Trained Teacher. The candidate must be trained and experienced as a Waldorf teacher, preferably lead. In addition, candidates must meet State Guidelines for working in a State Certified Childcare Facility. Ideally the candidate will have a minimum of three years experience working in a State Certified childcare center, works well with colleagues, communicates well both written and verbally and has a desire to teach from an understanding and commitment to Anthroposophy, child development, and Waldorf Pedagogy.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Help to maintain a clean and orderly classroom.
Work directly with and insure proper care for children.
Classroom activities and transitions.
Spend a portion of everyday outdoors in all types of weather.
Keep a consistent rhythm.
Attend meetings as required.
Maintain confidentiality in matters regarding parents, children, colleagues and the school.
The candidate must be able to lift 40 lbs, and be able to complete the State of Oregon Safety Set (first aid/cpr certification, food handlers permit, recognizing and reporting child abuse and neglect, Introduction to childcare center health and safety and Prevention is Better Than Treatment) and be registered in the Criminal Background Registry for the State.
The hours for this position are M-F 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., plus time allotted for daily cleaning, meetings, planning, parent work, enrollment, festivals, and other school commitments. This is a salary position with up to two children tuition remission, and health insurance assistance.

Nestled on twelve acres in Milwaukie, Oregon – ten minutes from Southeast Portland – Micha-el School has been independent and thriving since 2008.
Micha-el School offers a well-rounded kindergarten through eighth grade education. Our Waldorf certified teachers provide a balanced, comprehensive curriculum that weaves academics with creativity to inspire joyful learning. We are dedicated to maintaining small class sizes, with a cap of 18 students per class.
The hiring process includes, but is not limited to: a campus tour, classroom observations, one or more teaching demonstrations presented by the candidate, and a hiring interview with the College of Teachers. Travel expenses are the responsibility of the applicant.
Qualified candidates should possess a warm heart, a willingness to work in collaboration, prior Waldorf teaching experience, good classroom management, and communication skills.
Pay will reflect your years as a Waldorf lead teacher.
