Summer Camp Instructor Positions
Description:
The Anchorage Waldorf School is seeking experienced and enthusiastic Summer Camp instructors to work in our camp. Our camp is held mostly outside on our campus with adventurous walks to Baxter Bog or a nearby school playground. Staff coordinate and step into a rhythmic structure to foster creative playtime and host activities that support our weekly themes. Responsibilities include snack preparation and clean up, outdoor play, indoor games and group activities; as well as daily cleaning and preparation. Ideal candidates have teaching experience and knowledge of Waldorf Education or interest in alternative education philosophies and inquiry based education.
Position Overview:
Work Location: Anchorage Waldorf School. Outside for the majority of the day.
Lead and Assistant Staff positions available for both age groups (3-6 and 7-12 year olds)
8 sessions from Monday-Friday, June 6th through August 5, 2022. There is no camp July 4-8. Sessions run from 8:30-3:00 or 8:30-4:00 pm. Work hours are from 8:15-4:15.
Staff training and orientation: June 2 and 3, 2022
Pay commensurate with experience ranging from $17-20 per hour
Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to take initiative to effectively lead activities for our campers
Understanding of what quality program delivery for school age children entails along with behavior management and activity facilitation
Communicate clearly, directly with students, parents, co-instructors and staff daily
Ability to work as a team and independently with a group of students
Tolerance for adversity and uncertainty–things change often and adapting to this is key to success
Desire to work with a diverse population, age, gender, multicultural, etc.
Requirements:
Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within first 4 weeks of employment
Age requirement is 21 years old
