Enrollment Director

The Austin Waldorf School (AWS) is seeking an experienced and motivated Enrollment Director to lead our annual and long-range enrollment growth plans for the school. The Enrollment Director works closely with the Head of School, the Chief Financial Officer, other members of the school’s Leadership Team, and faculty members to oversee all enrollment-related functions of the school.
Founded in 1980 and nestled on 33 acres in the beautiful hill country of central Texas, the Austin Waldorf School provides a unique education to students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. The curriculum is designed to meet each stage of a student’s development from early childhood, through adolescence, into young adulthood. The programs demonstrate a continued commitment to providing a well-rounded educational experience integrating academic, artistic, and practical disciplines. The school’s mission is to “nurture, inspire, and engage, and to enlighten the journey towards a more humane, just, and sustainable future.”
The school is accredited through the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) and the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS). DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the enrollment office, creation of the enrollment budget, and appropriate enrollment and marketing materials, mailings, and publications.
- Present the school to prospective students and parents, which includes systematic and efficient handling of applications and communication with candidates and their parents, tours with candidates and their parents, securing of necessary student credentials,
collaborating with faculty and student support in review of applicants,
and communicating final decisions to the appropriate individuals.
- Organize with the Chief Financial Officer and the Financial Aid Committee the financial assistance program.
- Manage the re-enrollment of current students for the succeeding year.
- Oversee the network of parents, former parents, and alumni to assist in the enrollment program.
- Develop and implement appropriate exit interview/feedback protocols and procedures for those families electing to leave AWS for other local schools.
- Develop and implement appropriate follow-up and feedback protocols with those applying families who may choose other schools over AWS.
- Maintain relevant statistics for data analysis on all aspects of the enrollment and re-enrollment programs.
- Attend meetings and events as requested.
- Participate on committees as requested.
- Submit reports as requested.
- Visit classes periodically to keep in touch with faculty and the curriculum.
- Read literature on education issues and on Waldorf education.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School or Chief Financial Officer.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Waldorf education and will be well-versed in current educational practices. The ideal candidate will be able to communicate effectively with warmth, humor, and professionalism.
- Ability to speak fluently about Waldorf education at all levels, in various contexts
- Excellent communication skills: clear, articulate, professional in speaking and writing
- Comfortable speaking with large and small groups, conducting presentations, etc.
- Excellent organizational skills: able to set priorities and achieve them; able to keep cognizant of many processes happening simultaneously
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and to work independently
- Ability to work well in groups and with volunteers
- Ability to delegate and supervise tasks
- Friendly, warm, courteous, good listening skills
- Enjoys meeting people, personable yet professional in demeanor especially on the phone (and video conference), able to establish immediate rapport
- Skills or willingness to learn to interpret academic, psychological testing, testing for learning differences
- Ability to meet enrollment goals
- An abiding “can-do” attitude and a good sense of humor
- Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs. and to maneuver furniture and displays
- Able to conduct walking tours of the campus and to stand for extended periods of time
- Able to speak fluent English, however fluency in another language, especially Spanish, is additionally beneficial.
- Able to work on-site during business hours and as needed on weekends.
