Business Manager
The school is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, thorough and organized business manager with the ability to multitask.
Position Title: Business Manager
Classification: 12 month position either full-time or 80% depending on employee preference
Daily Hours: Monday – Friday 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Flexible schedule, partial remote hours may be possible

Objective
Under the direction of the HOS, manages the financial and business affairs of the school to include the maintenance of financial books and records including accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management. Establishes and maintains internal accounting controls and ensures financial compliance with state and federal requirements. Assists the HOS in strategic planning, policy development, and implementation of objectives.
Required Knowledge and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
2+ years bookkeeping experience
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word & Excel).
Experienced user of Quickbooks
Accounts receivable experience is a plus
Knowledge of non-profits is a plus
Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work independently
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet ongoing deadlines
Excellent customer service skills
High level of confidentiality regarding financial and employee information
Must be a perfectionist, with no tolerance for financial errors or oversights
Key responsibilities include participating in all functions related to, but not limited to the following:
Plans, organizes, directs, and controls the daily financial status of the school, and acts to protect, maintain, and improve procedures and processes where possible. Oversees internal audit procedures and controls.
Is responsible for accounting functions involving such duties as maintaining financial records, reports, ledgers and budgets, participating in internal controls, completing special projects, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and assisting the external auditor and accountant in the preparation of financial statements.
Manages cash management, including regular banking transactions and statement reconciliations.
Provides leadership, direction, and management of the finance and accounting team.
Plans, develops, and oversees the budget process, which includes developing overall budget strategy and long-range planning, obtaining broad range of input, prioritizing needs, allocating resources among priorities, and developing mechanisms for monitoring and evaluation of financial performance.
Oversees the preparation of financial forecasting and financial reporting.
Reviews and updates all formal finance and HR related procedures.
Responsible for business-related legal compliance in general with federal and state laws.
Attends Board of Trustee meetings to assist the treasurer in presenting and interpreting financial monthly reporting. Attends Finance Committee Meetings when scheduled.
Provides strategic recommendations to the Head of School and Board of Trustees.
Works to support and advance the commitment to equity, belonging, and anti-racism work within the school.
Must hold all company financial and personnel information in strict confidence.

Two professional references will be required, and past employment information will be verified.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
The duties of this position are performed primarily in an office setting. The position regularly requires standing, sitting, bending, and walking. The position also requires the ability to lift or carry items weighing up to 20 pounds.
