The Green Meadow Waldorf School is seeking a full-time lead mixed age kindergarten teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. Green Meadow is a seventy year old school, where imagination and the spirit of innovation are fostered.

Educational requirements:
Green Meadow Waldorf Early Childhood teachers participate in collaborative processes. building professional colleagueship, including mutual support for one another’s work with students and parents, and curriculum development. Skills for building collaborative relationships with parents and colleagues including excellent verbal and written communication skills, cultural competence, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of professional engagement is required

Bachelor’s degree
Completion of Waldorf early childhood teacher training or other relevant training
Relevant experience as a teacher, intern, or support teacher in early childhood

The work of an early childhood lead teacher:
All GMWS early childhood programs are outdoor programs and work from outdoor learning spaces during the fall and spring months and spend limited time indoors during the winter seasons. Classes meet outdoors unless inclement weather makes being outside unsafe or overly challenging.

Children arrive at 8:30 and are dismissed at 2:45pm and are greeted and dismissed by the lead teacher.
Early childhood programs are engaged in gardening and animal care. Animal care and gardening responsibilities continue throughout the summer months and during school breaks. Volunteering parents are organized to help support these tasks.
Collaboration with the support teacher(s) model to the students a relationship built in partnership, equality, mutual respect and appreciation.
New families are welcomed through a meeting or a home visit and through informational email communications.
Teachers offer developmentally appropriate movement circles which meet the children’s needs for development of the lower senses and puppet shows and storytelling, addressing the social-emotional developmental needs of children in mind.
Parent meetings and faculty meetings are held regularly throughout the year
All EC teachers develop an understanding of implicit bias and systemic racism and the impact on children and society and accept responsibility for taking concrete actions.
Use of DEI books within the cycle of the week.
Use of teaching methods and materials to create a bias-free classroom.
