Early Childhood Support Teacher
Mar 09 2022 | Rock Rose Village School | Fallbrook, CA
Rock Rose Village School is seeking a support teacher for their outdoor recreational nature camp based on an early childhood Waldorf/LifeWays education. This position will be for our 2022 - 2023 academic year.
Rock Rose is a small Waldorf/LifeWays Inspired Early Childhood Center located in southern California in the Friendly Village of Fallbrook. Fallbrook is an area rich in Waldorf community, biodynamic farms, Waldorf schools, anthroposophical study groups and close proximity to WISC (the Waldorf Institute of Southern California). Our school is modeled in part on Helle Heckmann's Nokken and we incorporate aspects of R.I.E. and LifeWays.
This year, we started an outdoor recreational camp program where the children play and work all day outside at local parks or private gardens. During the course of the day we work with the children on the joy of domestic and practical work, building a large garden where we grow vegetables and herbs, and including a camp kitchen where we cook organic lunches and snacks daily for all the children. Our outdoor program includes woodworking, painting, sewing, puppet shows, a Spanish program and seasonal crafts and celebrations. We work closely with parents to form a rich community that supports childhood.
We spend the entire day outdoors so our ideal candidate would be comfortable in an outdoor setting in all types of weather.
Candidates should have a strong work ethic, be excited to come to work, and have a love of young children. Experience in Waldorf early childhood education is ideal, but not required. We are willing to train candidates interested in learning specific philosophies and methods of working with children.
Responsibilities include a wide variety of tasks including but not limited to - point of contact with children and lead teacher in a busy and dynamic camp environment. Lead the children in need of a small group activity, first aid or a quiet time. The ideal candidate will have the capacity to multitask and maintain a friendly and welcoming countenance essential at all times.
Qualifications include:
12 ECE units or more
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Flexible, detail oriented, personable, positive, calm
Natural desire to be in service to others
An interest in Waldorf philosophy and working principles
Ability to follow instructions and carry out tasks in a timely manner
An interest in and commitment to the success of the school!

Other duties include but are not limited to assisting with cleaning and sanitizing, light cooking, baking, assisting the lead teacher with rest time, and supervising children. Attendance at department meetings will be required.
This is a full time position with reduced hours in the summer.
Compensation based on experience and qualifications. Must be able to pass the DOJ Background check. Opportunity for advancement to the right candidate.
