Waldorf Academy is seeking a qualified lead teacher for our innovative Waldorf kindergarten program.

Purpose:
At Waldorf Academy, we offer a unique pedagogical approach, grounded in the teachings of Rudolf Steiner, that is comprehensive, unparalleled, and inclusive of global cultures. Relationship-based, experiential learning infuses arts, movement, and outdoor education across the curriculum. Parents refer to the approach as “schooling with heart,” a kinder, gentler education where a carefully planned and applied pedagogical framework aligns with the stages of brain development in ways that allow magic and wonder to linger longer in childhood.

Scope:
• creates and maintains a warm and nurturing learning environment for all children in the kindergarten program.
• prepares daily classroom activities (practical and artistic), circle and story time and indoor and outdoor play that supports the development of the child from age 3 ½ - 6 years old.
• develops weekly and seasonal rhythms
• prepares the children, the parents and themselves for the grade one transition.
• attends leadership and mentorship meetings as required
• will work with a team to ensure the half, full and extended day are held as one fluid program.
• will work with the Early Childhood team
• prepares parent evenings
• writes yearly report cards


The following qualifications are required:
• Bachelor of Education or R.E.C.E. certification
• Minimum 3 years of teaching experience
• Training and/or experience in Waldorf education
• Recent Police Check and CPR-First Aid training.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with children, colleagues and parents
• Strong organizational skills and energy for working in a vibrant community-based school


Ideal candidates are committed to deepening their understanding of Waldorf Early Childhood, child development, and anthroposophy

The hours are from Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm and follow the school calendar. Attending full sectional meetings, coordinating parent evenings and participating in seasonal festivals are required. A list of mandatory events and festivals will be provided.
