A Green Meadow Waldorf School Mathematics teacher inspires students to develop:
logical, analytical, and critical thinking skills
mathematical knowledge
the ability to communicate mathematical concepts using a variety of representations
flexibility and creativity in developing and applying problem-solving strategies

The math teacher's responsibilities include preparing and providing developmentally appropriate instruction, inspired by the core principles of Waldorf Education. Lessons are structured to encourage active participation, ensuring that learners interact in a mutually supportive and respectful manner.

Full-time salaried faculty members (teachers) carry a minimum of 20 teaching lessons per week, or the equivalent. All full-time teachers should be in school from 8:00am until 3:20pm on school days and attend weekly faculty meetings, committee meetings, and occasional designated special events.

Course Offerings
6th-8th grade math track classes (3x weekly in 6th, 4x weekly in 7th and 8th grades)
7th grade Algebra block course, possibility of other middle school block courses
9th grade math track class (5x weekly)
After-school math help (1-2x weekly).
Possibly an after-school math club or offering.

Other duties include:
Learning support
Student assessment and report writing
Coordination with and support of class teacher
Communicating with parents (in writing and verbally in parent conferences)
Curriculum development


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or a related field,
A teaching certificate or equivalent experience. Waldorf teacher training is an advantage; candidates without this may be asked to enroll in further training.
Successful middle-school teaching experience. Waldorf School experience is advantageous.
Dynamic, well-developed classroom management skills.
Cultural competence and ability to meet a diverse population of students in an appropriate manner.
Demonstrated professional behavior with sensitivity to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with colleagues to build agreements on pedagogical approaches, curricular alignment, and instructional strategies.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrating discretion, judgment, and integrity..
