First Grade Teacher
Mar 04 2022 | Waldorf School of Santa Barbara | Goleta, CA
The Waldorf School of Santa Barbara is seeking a First Grade Teacher for the 2022-23 school year. The ideal candidate will have a Waldorf teaching certificate, a bachelor’s degree, classroom experience in a Waldorf school, a deep commitment to serving the children, and a warm-hearted spirit ready to engage with parents and colleagues. WSSB offers a competitive salary and benefits, including medical, dental, and retirement, tuition remission, and professional development. Salary is based on education and experience.
Founded in 1984, our school is located on a large, beautiful campus, nestled between the Santa Ynez Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, with daily access to parkland next door and the many hiking trails to be found in nearby wilderness areas. The scenery is quite stunning from our school’s large field! Santa Barbara is a beautiful place to live, with its year-round mild, Mediterranean climate and sandy beaches, its friendly community of people from all walks of life, its small town feel, and its cultural calendar that hosts a number of first class music and theater events, including the annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Yet we are only 1.5 hours from Los Angeles in case you enjoy an occasional jaunt to the city! And if you have any surfers in your family, the town next door hosts the Rincon Classic Annual Surf Competition.
We anticipate that our single, older Kindergarten will be sending forth eight vibrant, first grade-ready children, and we expect at least another four or five will apply before the start of the school year from the surrounding community and several, Waldorf-friendly forest kindergartens. Traditionally, our lower grades have continued to grow once they commence first grade. Our average class size is 18 students.
The Waldorf School of Santa Barbara serves children from Early Childhood through Eighth Grade, and offers a rich Parent-Child Program.
To apply: Please contact Carolyn Kaster at carolyn@waldorfsantabarbara.org with a cover letter, resume, and three references. We look forward to hearing from you.
