About our school and community:
Asheville, North Carolina, is vibrant with a welcoming creative spirit. Located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, it is known for its thriving artistic community, progressive mindset, and historically rich downtown with a booming food and music scene.
Asheville Waldorf School (AWS) is currently in its eleventh school year. We offer multiple parent-child classes, nursery, two kindergartens, and grades First through Seventh, and we are steadily growing with an enrollment of roughly 170 children.
AWS became an associate member of WECAN in 2017 and of AWSNA in 2018. Our organization consists of a cohesive and striving Faculty, a Board of Directors that draws members from both the Parent body and the community, a committed Administration, and a loving and involved community of parents and families.
It is an exciting time at AWS. After years of searching, we have found land for our permanent home and are transitioning there in fall of 2022. After developing new rhythms around the unprecedented circumstances of COVID-19, we look forward to the opportunities that the new year brings. With a reinvigorated commitment to diversification, and strengthening our community connections, we are looking forward to what the years ahead hold for our school.
