First Grade Main Lesson Teacher
Feb 25 2022 | The Unity School | Raleigh, North Carolina
The Unity School is looking for a Main Lesson teacher for the First Grade Class, 2022-2023 school year.
The Unity School is a thriving new initiative located in the capital city of Raleigh, North Carolina, with a community of dedicated parents and teachers. Founded in the fall of 2020, we serve students in Early Childhood - 2nd Grade. Next year we will add a new first grade class and will advance our current 2nd grade to 3rd grade.
Our faculty and board enjoy a warm, collegial relationship and work collaboratively to strengthen our school’s growth. Teachers at The Unity School are dedicated to Waldorf Education. They work with their colleagues and parent community to create an educational environment that is aligned with the ideals of Waldorf Education and the school’s mission and goals.
Our parent body, while still small, is enthusiastic and committed to Waldorf education. They love and support our teachers and are actively involved in committees and fundraising efforts. It is a warm and close-knit group.
A candidate for this position should have a pioneering spirit, which is necessary to nurture and develop a new school, and have strong communication and collaboration skills. This is an ideal opportunity to make an impact on the school’s foundation, culture, formation of traditions and personality. Teachers and administration work collaboratively and teachers’ voices are central. This also is an ideal position for a teacher who is completing teacher training and/or who needs less than a full-time employment position; The best scenario would include moving into the full-time class teacher position the following year (2nd grade). The first and second grades meet from 8:30-2:00 PM.
Our ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree or higher, with a Waldorf teaching certificate and classroom teaching experience. We are open to a teacher who is engaged in Waldorf teacher training at a AWSNA-recognized training institute, or who is willing to pursue this training in the near future. This is important for our school as we journey toward becoming a recognized Waldorf School. If you believe you might be a good fit, please reach out to us to discuss. We are also looking for someone with a pioneering spirit and strong communication and collaboration skills.
Benefits include:
Joining an enthusiastic and supportive faculty during an exciting time of school expansion
Professional development funds
Priority enrollment for children of hired faculty in grades K-3
Tuition remission for children enrolled in the school
A school year calendar designed for sustainable teaching and learning
Sustainable teaching calendar:
A week off in October
2 weeks off for winter holidays
A week off in February
A week for Spring break
Usual holidays
We welcome qualified applicants to email a letter of interest, resume and contact information for 2-3 professional references who have experienced your teaching to: teachersearch.theunityschool@gmail.com.
