Lead Teaching Position in Mask-Free Community School
Feb 22 2022 | Running River School | Sedona, AZ
Our beautiful school is an independent, non-profit school in the heart of Sedona, AZ serving Grades 1-8. We believe in the holistic wellness of our children and have continued with in-person, mask-free schooling through the pandemic. During these times we believe it is crucial to continue to create a sanctuary for our children, and to build a strong, interconnected community around them.
We are calling in a passionate, warm, talented Waldorf-trained (preferred) teacher to lead in the grades in the 2022/2023 school year, with a June start (we pay through the summer; school starts early August).
Sedona is a profoundly powerful place, with stunning landscape and a beautiful series of trail-systems at our doorstep. If you are interested in inspiring our children to continue growing into the future leaders, change-makers, and stewards of our planet please reach out.
Here’s what this incredible opportunity offers:
o In-person, mask-free learning during these important times
o Teaching in the heart of a sacred, and beautiful place with stunning landscape
o Intimate class sizes with an excellent student-teacher ratio (10-12 on average)
o Curriculum resources
o Competitive AZ wage
o Support with training/professional development/mentorship
o Healthcare stipend
o Good planning time
o A conscious, compassionate community of grateful and supportive parents
o Supportive, connected, heart-centered, and collaborative faculty, administration, and wider community
o A school with Waldorf-trained leadership (with some teaching), strong roots in Anthroposophy, and a strong school spirit
o Monthly teacher-led, all-day hikes in the stunning surrounding area (general physical fitness and stamina needed for normal hiking)
o Easy access to nature, red-rocks, mountains, creek, and outdoor spaces
o Independent and non-profit school that can remain true to the full Waldorf curriculum (we also offer scholarships to remain accessible)
Here’s what we’re looking for:
o A dedicated, creative, warm and inspiring leader who honors every child’s worth
o Someone with an ability to make children feel ‘seen'
o A resilient, positive, and proactive individual who embodies what they teach
o Artistic talents/potential (across multiple mediums)
o Lead teaching experience and ability to hold healthy form with both warmth and expectation
o Someone with excellent classroom management skills who also creates a fun & enriching learning environment
o Knowledge and experience in delivering a Waldorf curriculum (and/or a deep resonance with it) As a school we have helped train less experienced individuals with the methodology & philosophy in their heart.
o Passion, and care for our future generation (and their future purpose/tasks)
o Someone who works positively and cooperatively within a team
o An individual who carries great care for what they do and holds a deeply rooted sense that teaching is a calling/service.
Please send letter of interest, bio sketch, and resume/references to info@runningriverschool.org
