The Austin Waldorf School, a co-educational, K-12 day school located in Austin, Texas, seeks a full-time 8th Grade Class Teacher to begin July 1, 2022.
The 8th Grade Class Teacher will be an experienced and certified Waldorf educator with demonstrated success teaching in a Waldorf middle school. Candidates will demonstrate and model the qualities of collaboration, energy, initiative, empathy, and flexibility. The eighth grade class teacher will be a core member of the middle school department and will work closely with colleagues in the grades and high school to foster a welcoming, challenging, and adventurous learning environment for the eighth grade class.
The 8th Grade Class Teacher will excel at working with middle-school age students, demonstrating proficiency and comfort with classroom management and group facilitation, mastery of Waldorf curriculum and pedagogy, as well as skilled communication in writing and speaking. Candidates will be enthusiastic representatives of the school and programs to current and prospective parents, and will play an important role in student preparation and transition to high school.
Class teacher responsibilities include:
Teach main lesson blocks throughout the year
Teach regularly scheduled skills classes
Contribute to weekly middle school and grade school meetings
Serve as a student and family advisor
Collaborate with student support services and colleagues to ensure that all students are learning at their highest potential
The Austin Waldorf School seeks candidates who have demonstrated success teaching and innovating in a Waldorf school setting. Candidates will possess, at minimum, a bachelor’s degree and a passion for working with middle school students.
