Grades Teacher 2022-2023
Feb 15 2022 | Peace Valley Charter School | Boise, ID
Peace Valley Charter School is seeking grades teachers to join us in the 2022-2023 school year.
About Us -
Peace Valley is a young K-8 charter school located in the growing, bustling city of Boise, Idaho. Boise is a beautiful medium-sized city with so much to offer. Our food scene rivals that of Portland, our arts community is thriving and dynamic, and we have rugged beauty for our backyard - hiking, fishing, snowsports, kayaking, mountain biking, boating, and more are all available just a short drive from Boise.
As the first Waldorf school in our area, we have the privilege to grow alongside our community and bring this wonderful form of education to families who would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience it. Our school culture is collaborative, vibrant, and growing to fill the needs of our unique community in Boise. We are strongly led by the Waldorf principles, and by our shared experiences and intuitions as educators. We are lucky to have an active parent body of dedicated folks who regularly volunteer at our school and are passionate about being involved in their children's education in a real way.
As a school, we at Peace Valley aim to bring forth healthy, confident, free-thinking, and self-directed children who are passionately engaged with education. We want to empower all of our students to contribute responsibly to the world and to appreciate the importance of peace, respect, and compassion.
Classroom teachers will loop with their class from 1st - 8th grades, with an option of participating in either a lower grades loop from 1st through 5th grade or an upper grades loop from 6th through 8th grade.
General Responsibilities and Duties -
● Develop curriculum collaboratively with colleagues integrating arts, movement, and nature activities and Idaho Content Standards.
● Facilitate cross curricula instruction
● Assess individual student learning and development
● Communicate regularly with students’ families
● Participate in ongoing professional development and faculty evaluation processes
● Supervise students
● Maintain a nurturing, peaceful, safe, and positive learning environment
Qualifications -
Candidates will have a valid Idaho State Teaching Certificate or the ability to become certified by the State Department of Education. The candidate must be willing to complete training and certification in Waldorf curriculum and methodology if they do not already have a certificate from a recognized Waldorf teacher training program. Our goal is that our faculty will represent the best of both worlds - dual certified with Idaho State teaching credentials and Waldorf certification. Additional interests, skills, and initiative in various areas such as drawing, singing, movement, and drama are also desired.
Benefits -
As a public charter school in the State of Idaho, Peace Valley employees working 20 or more hours/week are eligible for PERSI retirement benefits. Salary is on par with the State Department of Education’s career ladder. Peace Valley provides ongoing professional development to ensure that our teachers seek and practice best teaching methods. Full-time employees are eligible for personal leave, sick leave, and health benefits.
How to Apply -
Please complete the online application found here: https://www.peacevalleycharter.org/jobs.
You will be required to provide your education, work history, and three references. Have digital copies of your cover letter, resume, college transcripts and letters of recommendation prepared to upload. If you have any questions about this application email employment@boisewaldorf.org
