Looking to positively influence a child’s life in a magical environment? Pleasant Valley School, a pre-school program in Vacaville imbued with Waldorf principles, is looking for a Lead Teacher.
Lead Teacher
Early Childhood Teachers are required to create an environment that is calm, orderly and beautiful; to create a rhythm that breathes between teacher-directed and child-directed activities; to watch over and guide each child, responding in developmentally appropriate ways. The Lead Teacher must have an understanding and embody the philosophies of Waldorf Early Childhood Education. Essential duties include meeting the needs of children, families, community, faculty, and themselves as teacher.
In addition to passing the background clearances (DOJ, FBI, CAIC ), applicants must have:
• AA , BA degree or equivalent diploma including 24 ECE units and 16 GE units (transcripts required)
• Experience working with children
• Ability to deal with people tactfully and courteously
• Proven experience maintaining clear boundaries and setting age appropriate discipline standards for children using non-punitive measures
• Organizational skills (school-year schedule, daily rhythm plans, creating and maintaining a calm, orderly, beautiful classroom environment)
• Communication skills (teaching with imagination, artistry, with few words, providing on-going support, promoting harmony, parent and faculty meetings)
• Assessment skills (interviewing prospective students and their families to assess appropriateness of Waldorf education for the student, assessing evolving needs of the student in class, preparing year-end class summaries)
• Outreach to community (participating in school festivals and school outreach programs)
• Self-support and improvement (regular self/peer evaluation, attending professional development conferences, seminars)
• Health and safety (follow guidelines for food prep, first aid procedures and supplies, emergency response plan, illness policy, meeting physical demands of program)
• Possess all required vaccines and training certificates (TB, MMR, Influenza, TDap – Mandated Reporting, First Aid, Pediatric CPR)
• A full time position, requiring on campus arrival at least 30 minutes prior to school starting through 30 minutes after school dismissal
• Compensation varies depending on education and experience
