Early Childhood Assistant Teacher

The Waldorf School of Philadelphia has an immediate opening for a caring and capable classroom assistant for our Early Childhood program to start in January 2022.
The position of Early Childhood Assistant Teacher is an hourly position that runs from September to early June, providing key support to the Lead Teacher in the life of the Early Childhood Program. The Assistant is expected to arrive in the classroom by 8:00 am each day, ready to begin their tasks by 8:15 am, and remain on campus until 3:30 pm. Lunch and rest time with the students are part of the daily schedule.
Essential Job Functions
Daily snack preparation.
Participation in all aspects of classroom routine, including washing dishes and ensuring the kitchen is kept clean.
Help and support in times of transition.
Directing questions and concerns to the Lead Teacher, meeting weekly to exchange information and ensure cohesive work together.
Holding the class for a period of time each day while the Lead Teacher is attending to other tasks.
Assisting and monitoring children in the bathroom, classroom and on the playgrounds.
Other duties as they arise or are requested by the Lead Teacher or EC staff.
Interested applicants should have a passion for teaching and the ability to form warm relationships with children. Classroom support staff must have a high school diploma or higher and provide evidence of CPR/First Aid training and all relevant State and Federal clearances to work in a school setting.
