Nursery Lead Teacher / Childcare Director

The Whatcom Hills Waldorf School in Bellingham, WA is seeking a Waldorf trained teacher for our Chickadees Nursery class for the fall of 2022. Whatcom Hills is a fully accredited member of AWSNA and WECAN, serving around 190 students from nursery through the eighth grade. Our ideal candidate has previous experience as a Waldorf educator, an interest in working collaboratively, and a commitment to the ideals of Waldorf education.
We are looking for a candidate with warmth of heart and desire to work with children at this young age (21/2 - 3/12 year olds). Many of our nursery children are experiencing their first time away from home, and may still be engaged in toilet training. Chickadees Nursery is a morning program 3 - 4 days a week.
This position includes the role of Child Care Director for our three licensed EC classes. Office hours would be during the afternoon. The requirements for this position are governed by the State of Washington Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF.)
On the shores of Bellingham Bay with Mount Baker as its backdrop, Bellingham is the last major city before the Washington coastline meets the Canadian border. Qualifications:
Waldorf teacher training or equivalent experience
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
45 early childhood education credits required
This position is .6 (3 day) or .8 (4 day) FTE. Our salary includes increments for Waldorf training and years of experience. Benefits include medical insurance, tuition remission, mentoring and professional development opportunities.
