First Grade Teacher

The Westside Waldorf School in the Pacific Palisades, California is accepting resumes for an experienced Grade’s 1-8 Class teacher for the 2022/23 school year. Candidates must have successful teaching experience, be committed to excellence in teaching, and positive and effective classroom management. All Class Teachers are expected to be good collaborators, to have a history of strong, positive communication skills with parents and colleagues, to demonstrate professionalism and healthy boundaries, and to convey warmth and joy. Class Teachers are full-time, active members of the school’s faculty and are responsible for providing curriculum in a timely manner according to the principles of Waldorf pedagogy. Class Teachers prepare and deliver daily Main Lesson curriculum, as well as weekly skills classes including Language Arts, Math and artistic lessons, observing and nurturing their students’ growth and development. They are responsible for the aesthetic and safety care of the classroom and outside environment. In addition, Class Teachers meet regularly with their class families, and work closely with their colleagues. Attendance at school events, parent evenings, and festival celebrations is required.
Westside Waldorf’s main campus is nestled between the Santa Monica Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. We are fortunate to have both the ocean and the local state park within easy walking access for class outings and learning opportunities. In addition to our full grades 1-8 program, we have five Nurseries/Kindergartens mixed age classes. Our school enjoys healthy enrollment, and a diverse community with a broad array of life experiences and geographic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Our graduates successfully transfer to a wide variety of both local and out of area high schools. Westside Waldorf students experience a rich program which includes Spanish, Mandarin, Handwork, Woodwork, Instrumental and Choral Music, Games, a Middle School Math track and Gardening classes. We also provide After-School Sports and an Enriched Aftercare Program. Westside Waldorf is an AWSNA accredited institution and has been a full member of WECAN since 2009.
