Founded in 1984, Maine Coast Waldorf School serves approximately 260 children from parent/toddler through high school. We are an accredited Waldorf program with more than 35 full-time faculty members.
Position: Maine Coast Waldorf School is seeking a Family Programs teacher for weekly classes with parents and their young children on our campus located in Freeport, Maine.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be well-versed in Waldorf early childhood education and preferably have experience working with children aged birth-three in a Waldorf early childhood setting. They will also be well-versed in Waldorf educational principles as they apply to parenting young children, and able to be a resource to parents in the class, facilitating discussions, guiding child observations, and modeling ways of being with young children. They will possess the warmth and confidence needed to build community among groups of parents who will come together for weekly classes with their young children.
Classes will be offered in a dedicated parent-child classroom and outdoor play space adjacent to our existing early childhood building.
Pay: This is an hourly lead teacher position that is not benefits-eligible. The hourly rate is $30.25 and will include 22.5 hours per week, from 8:00-12:30 Monday-Friday. These hours will include teaching 4 classes or approximately 1.5-2 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, preparation and administrative time, and working in one of the early childhood classrooms as a lead teacher on Fridays.
