Grade 1 Teacher in New Orleans 2022/2023

Waldorf School of New Orleans seeks a Lead Teacher for Grade 1 to fill a need for the 2022/2023 school year. This is a full-time position.
SUMMARY:
The Grades Teacher nurtures the development and unique capabilities of each child within the context of the whole class and according to Waldorf Pedagogy and curriculum. They are an integral part of the whole Faculty for the pedagogical and administrative aspects of the School, and bring into practice the shared vision of our Waldorf School.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
CLASSROOM RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Class Teaching
2. Parent Meetings and Communication
necessary, overseeing in-school detentions and suspensions.
3. Reports and Student Progress Documentation
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include attending weekly Faculty Meetings, participating on a Committee, being available to offer extra help to students, attendance/assistance at major all-school activities, etc.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college in Education, Art, or Psychology. Master’s Degree preferred.
• Acceptance, as a working hypothesis for teaching (not necessarily for one’s personal beliefs), the work of Rudolf Steiner, founder of Waldorf education, as brought in Faculty studies, teacher presentations during in-school workshops and through other pertinent Waldorf training
• Teacher Training Certificate or willingness to attend Waldorf Teacher Training
• Previous teaching experience in a Waldorf classroom preferred
•Minimum 3 years of teaching experience
