First Grade Teacher for the 2022/23 School Year

Sierra Waldorf is pleased to announce the position for our first grade teacher for the 2022/23 school year!
Situated in the beautiful, sunny Sierra Nevada foothills, Sierra Waldorf School is fully accredited by AWSNA, serving approximately 110 students from Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. We are currently rebuilding our enrollment back towards pre-pandemic levels (150). We offer many rich programs, including Puppetry, Gardening, Spanish, Movement Education, and Woodwork. Our rural campus is nestled in the historic Rawhide Valley, within a short drive to Yosemite National Park, many State parks and local hiking trails. We have an experienced, dedicated faculty who share a strong commitment to mentoring and working out of Anthroposophy.
The ideal candidate will have at least an undergraduate degree and completed Waldorf teacher training.
Purpose and Scope of Job: The grades class teacher is responsible for planning the daily, weekly and block rhythms of the year. These plans are developed in accordance with the principles of Waldorf pedagogy and in light of the needs of the class. The grades class teacher is also responsible for deepening their understanding of Anthroposophy, child development, and seeking out new materials for their teaching. Teachers commit to faculty responsibilities, including participation in weekly faculty meetings, grades mentoring group, and committee service.
