Fifth Grade Class Teacher Position for 2022-2023
Jan 27 2022 | El Rio Community School | Los Angeles, CA
El Rio Community School, a public, independent charter school that opened in September 2020 in Northeast Los Angeles, uses the Waldorf approach to teach Common Core state standards. We are looking for an experienced teacher for 2022-23 for next year's fifth grade class of approximately 20 students. Our wish is to find a teacher that can lead this group through to the end of their middle school years.
We offer a competitive compensation package, small class sizes, paid summer training and ongoing professional development, mentoring, and the opportunity to be part of shaping an innovative new school, now midway through our second year, in Northeast Los Angeles. We offer a full complement of specialty classes, including strings, Mandarin, Spanish, handwork, gardening, and woodworking/manual arts.
We seek candidates with warmth, patience, enthusiasm, joy, creativity, strong classroom management skills, and the ability to use Waldorf methods to make the curriculum and naturally embedded state standards come alive for the children. The ideal candidate will be a loving authority figure to the children, and balance high academic standards, the ability to respect and engender the respect of students, the knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm to engage students of varied ability levels, and the interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with colleagues, administration, and parents. The posting is open until the position has been filled.
Qualifications for teachers:
Bachelor’s Degree
California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential/eligibility
Waldorf Teaching Certificate or some training preferred.
Experience in Waldorf class teaching preferred.
To apply, please send the following to katie.chau@elrioschool.org:
a) Letter of Intent
b) Copy of Bachelor’s Degree
c) California Teaching Credential (or CA Commission eligibility)
c) Copy of Waldorf Certificate
d) Resume
e) 3 Letters of Recommendation with contact information
Your three letters of recommendation should have been written in the past year, and include at least one from a direct supervisor who has observed your teaching. Please provide current contact information for each of your references.
For questions or more information, please contact Katie.chau@elrioschool.org.
