Lead Kindergarten Teacher New Orleans - 2022/2023

The Waldorf School of New Orleans is expanding and seeking an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic full-time Lead Kindergarten Teachers for the 2022/2023 School Year.

Lead Kindergarten Teacher duties include:
• Instructing Kindergarten students according to Waldorf pedagogy, nurturing each unique child with respect, and modeling healthy behavior
• Planning and developing Kindergarten curriculum, applying curriculum standards and learning objectives that adhere to Waldorf pedagogy
• Using effective teaching techniques, materials, and activities to promote physical, mental, and social development, and support a health and harmonious classroom
• Establishing and maintaining fair and just standards for student behavior to ensure a supportive and safe social environment
• Carrying out celebration of festivals and birthdays in a manner related to the curriculum
• Communicating objectives to students in a calm manner, using clear and precise language
• Observing, evaluating, and providing for specific student needs
• Monitoring and assessing student progress, personal and social behavior, and provide regular feedback to parents, mentor faculty and administration
• Documenting student progress and prepare mid-year and end-of-year reports for each child
• Scheduling and participating in parent conferences, conversations, and meetings
• Participating and/or holding a Chair position in Early Childhood Hiring and other school committees
• Participating in weekly faculty and Early Childhood staff meetings
• Directing, supervising, training and evaluating teaching assistant(s) who support the Kindergarten classroom
• Mentoring other Kindergarten teachers
• Maintaining professional competence through continuing education, development and renewal
Minimum Requirements:
Candidates must
• Hold Waldorf Teacher Certification in Early Childhood by a program recognized by WECAN or be enrolled in and pursuing Certification in such a program before employment begins
• have at least 1-3 years of teaching experience in a Waldorf Kindergarten
• have a Bachelors or Associates degree in Education, Art, or Psychology
• submit a biography, resume, and three references
Preferred Candidates will:
• have at least 3-5 years of teaching experience as a Lead Teacher in Waldorf Kindergarten
