First Grade Teacher 2021-2022 School Year

Jan 25 2022 | Boulder Valley Waldorf School | Niwot, CO

Boulder Valley Waldorf School in Niwot, Colorado is seeking a dynamic and experienced teacher who to lead our next First Grade class and become a member of our core faculty for the 2022-2023 school year. Our ideal candidate possesses several years teaching experience in Waldorf grades, and has completed their teacher training. This person would be excited to work with the growing child, have strong classroom management skills, bring inspired Waldorf teaching in a dynamic way, engage with students, work well with parents, and have a deep passion and interest for the world around them.

BVWS has weathered the coronavirus pandemic well, constructing outdoor classrooms and operating in person since August 2020. The school has followed State and County guidelines, implemented cohorting, testing, and indoor masking for students and faculty in all grades. We will maintain these measures for as long as they are required by the health department. Almost all our faculty are fully vaccinated and boosted, and our experience operating in-person for our second pandemic year shows that it is possible to mitigate in-school transmission by taking common-sense precautions.

Founded in 1993, BVWS is a Pre-KG through Eighth Grade independent not-for-profit school. We offer a full Waldorf curriculum, including world languages, woodworking, handwork, movement, instrumental and orchestral music, though our chorus is suspended due to indoor singing being a high-risk activity. All our full-time teachers are Waldorf-trained, and represent a rich spectrum of life experiences along with their strengths as Waldorf educators.

Our school is set on a five-acre campus within 38 acres of school-owned agricultural land. Midway between to two very livable and thriving medium-sized cities (Boulder and Longmont) our school campus provides a wonderful rural atmosphere for festivals and community life, and contributes substantially to a rich curriculum supported by enthusiastic and experienced teachers, devoted, hard-working parents, and a healthy, energetic student body. The region is an ideal mix of rural and urban, with farms and extensive open space giving way in one direction to the vibrant college town of Boulder and in the other direction to Longmont, rated one of the best places to live in the US. Our pioneering Affordable Tuition model makes the education affordable to a wide range of families.
Niwot is located along the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, about an hour’s drive north of Denver and close to world-class hiking and skiing. Situated near the center of Boulder County, our school draws from Longmont, Boulder, Lafayette, Louisville, and the surrounding unincorporated areas. Boulder County is home to the University of Colorado, a booming technology and startup culture, and numerous local organizations that provide a rich variety of galleries, performances, and workshops. It is frequently ranked among the top ten best places to live in the United States, and is connected to the world by Denver International Airport, rated best large airport in the US.

In addition to Anthroposophical communities in Boulder and Denver, the Colorado Front Range area supports five elementary Waldorf Schools, three Waldorf high schools (two of which are in nearby Boulder), several independent Waldorf Kindergartens and numerous Waldorf home and day groups, several biodynamic farms (including the one on our campus) and a variety of Anthroposophical study groups and initiatives.
Our full-time faculty enjoy competitive salaries and a generous employee benefit program, including tuition remission for enrolled children, and a choice of comprehensive medical and dental plans. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. Qualified candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
