Jan 24 2022 | Portland Waldorf School | Milwaukie, Oregon
Portland Waldorf School is welcoming applications for a full-time and/or part-time High School Humanities Teacher for the 2022-2023 school year.
The high school humanities, science, and art curriculum are taught through interdisciplinary themes on the topics of human rights, human welfare, environment and government/policy, including creative hands-on lessons that include a project element.
Our teachers and staff members work enthusiastically and energetically to engage their students and are dedicated to Waldorf education. They work collaboratively with their colleagues and the parent community to create an educational environment that is aligned with the school mission and program goals.
We expect a teacher candidate to hold a bachelor’s degree and have high school teaching experience. We hope for candidates with a master’s degree related to humanities. A successful teacher has a desire to work with adolescents, be adept at teaching to a wide range of student abilities and have strong classroom management skills. Teaching responsibilities include all grade levels (9-12) in blocks and skills classes in History, Government, English, Cultural Studies, and Literature.
Portland Waldorf School was founded in 1982 and is fully accredited through AWSNA. We serve students in Early Childhood through 12th grade on a beautiful seven-acre campus. We offer a full Waldorf curriculum, as well as a middle and high school athletics program.
Salary is dependent upon education and experience. Benefits offered include medical and dental insurance, 401(k) plan, tuition remission and professional development opportunities. Please send resume, letter of interest, and three professional references including emails and phone numbers (in PDF format only) to leadershipteam@portlandwaldorf.org
Portland Waldorf School is an equal opportunity employer that does not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, age, gender, or any protected class. We acknowledge that a diversity of ethnicities, nationalities, socioeconomic backgrounds, gender expressions, sexual orientations, learning differences, and life experiences within our community enhance our school’s learning environment, and we are committed to cultivating equity and inclusion.
