First Grade Teacher Position for 2022-2023
Jan 19 2022 | El Rio Community School | Los Angeles, CA
El Rio Community School, a public, independent charter school that opened in September 2020 in Northeast Los Angeles, uses the Waldorf approach to teach Common Core state standards. We are looking for an experienced teacher for 2022-23 for one of our two first grade classes who will loop with their classes through 4th grade.
We offer a competitive compensation package, small class sizes, paid summer training and ongoing professional development, and the opportunity to be part of shaping an innovative new school, now midway through our second year, in Northeast Los Angeles.
We seek candidates with warmth, patience, enthusiasm, joy, and the ability to use Waldorf methods to make the curriculum and naturally embedded state standards come alive for the children. The ideal candidate will be a loving authority figure to the children, and balance high academic standards, the ability to respect and engender the respect of students, the knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm to engage students of all temperaments and ability levels, and the interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with colleagues, administration, and parents. The posting is open until the position has been filled.
Qualifications for teachers:
Bachelor’s Degree
California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential/eligibility
Waldorf Teaching Certificate or some training preferred.
Experience in Waldorf class teaching preferred.
