Private Homeschooling Pod looking for a Waldorf Teacher
Jan 15 2022 | Private Homeschooling Pod | Encino, CA
As conscious parents joining forces, we strive to create an experience that honors the child, living the ideals of Steiner. Very saddened and dissapointed to see what our youngest are going through in "Waldorf schools" lately.
We are looking for a kind, nurtutring Waldorf Teacher to co-create an inspiring, loving enviroment that honors the whole child and supports their social and emotional growth so that they become secure in themselves, and in turn become secure learners. This would take place at one of our homes with a mixed class of 3-8 children ranging from 2.5-6 years old. We are fortunate to have a beautiful chicken coop, organic veggie garden and a mountainside home for lots of nature walks and exploring, where we often have deer come visit.
This is an oportunity to teach 3 days a week initially, but would likely grow to be a 5 days a week job. Presently there are 3 children but we hope to expand to up to 8.
We are specially interested in teachers who could possibly impart class in Spanish or/and French, as an immersive experience, but also open to other languages.
The curriculum focuses on creativity and self-expression rather than academics. These activities may include storytelling, wax/clay modeling, baking and cooking wholesome, organic foods, gardening, outdoor play, dress-up, play-acting, building, singing, and painting.
Duties and Responsibility:
Lead children in daily routine and Rhythm
Attend to children's basic needs by feeding them, dressing them, and changing their diapers as needed. Currently there's only one child in diapers, but there's the possibility of more joining in the future.
Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities
Meet with parents to discuss individual students' needs and progress
Organize and label materials, and display students' work in a manner appropriate for their ages and perceptual skills.
Qualities we are looking for
Committed to each student throughout their years of school. We are looking for a teacher that can lead them through the years.
Adept in developing creative, lively, interactive lesson plans
Constantly evaluating teaching methods
Comfortable pushing beyond their comfort zones in education
Able to think outside the box
Inspiring to their students
Empathetic, caring, patient and kind
Enthusiastic about learning
Passionate and idealistic
Education/Minimal Requirements:
Certified Waldorf Early Childhood Teacher
Current CPR certification
Experience working with young children (pre k - 3rd grade)
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift a minimum of 28 pounds.
Must be in good physical health.
Compensation
We offer competitive hourly salary
We offer health and retirement benefits
To Apply: Please send a letter of introduction, resume, short biography, and three references to the email: st.michel.encinitos@pm.me . Applications are requested by December 31, 2021 and will be accepted until the position is filled.
