Pedagogical Administrator

Portland Waldorf School is welcoming applications for a full-time Pedagogical Administrator beginning July 1, 2022. The Pedagogical Administrator is responsible for providing administrative and pedagogical leadership and support to teachers in Early Childhood, Grades, and High School. They work closely with the School Director and College Chair to ensure effective communication with all school sections and constituents.

Tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to four areas of focus:
1. Pedagogical Development/Support of Faculty
--Lead and oversee curricular policy and development
--Direct oversight of college-mandated committees (Hiring, Teacher
Development, DEIJ (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social
Justice)
--Support faculty work with students and parents
--Maintain awareness of ongoing curriculum and pedagogical
developments in both Waldorf education and the larger
educational community

2. Parent/Community Liaison
--Serve as the “public face” to the parent body for the pedagogical
program.
--Work closely with Parent Association to develop an effective adult
education program.
--Support resolution of any individual or class-wide concerns or
issues arising.

3. Board of Trustees Liaison
--Act as the principal advocate of Waldorf pedagogy to the Board
of Trustees
--Prepare pedagogical reports to the Board as needed or
requested.
--Work with the Board as needed to ensure the ongoing health of
the school

4. Administrative/Governance
--Act as the pedagogical leaders, overseeing processes that
ensure the school’s pedagogical quality, consistency, coherence
and continuity.
--Work with school leadership groups and Finance Manager to
develop responsible budgets that ensure the quality of essential
Waldorf curriculum and programs.
--Work with the College and School Director to develop and refine
school policies and procedures.
--Oversee and manage the school’s accreditation in partnership
with the School Director.
--Provide leadership in the school’s strategic planning initiatives.

Qualities and Expected Skills:

--BA or higher degree from an accredited educational institution
--Waldorf teacher and/or administrative training certificate
--At least 7 years of successful experience as a teacher in a Waldorf
School
--Demonstrated understanding and commitment to Waldorf
education and Anthroposophy
--Knowledge of and connections with wider Waldorf Education and
Anthroposophical organizations
--Independent worker who can adapt to a continuous changing
environment.
--Strong interpersonal, presentation and written communication
skills
--Collaborative and decisive
--Accessible to the school community of students, parents, teachers,
and community members

Portland Waldorf School was founded in 1982 and is fully accredited through the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA). We serve students in Early Childhood through 12th grade on a beautiful seven-acre campus. We offer a full Waldorf curriculum, as well as a middle and high school athletics program.
