First Grade Class Teacher
Jan 08 2022 | Wandering Star Forest School | Oklahoma City, OK
Dear Teachers,
We are opening a small, nature-based school in Oklahoma City, and looking to hire a teacher for a class of first and second grade children.
Where:
Oklahoma City, OK
When:
Fall 2022
What is important to us?
-A whole-child curriculum that nourishes the body, mind, and spirit. We are drawn to the idea of a Steiner-inspired forest school model.
-A focus on outdoor time. We would like to find a teacher who is interested in fostering the child’s connection to, and reverence for, the natural world. Opportunity for immersion in nature, as opposed to just time outside. There will be animal care and gardening on site which can hopefully be worked into the school day.
-Respect for each child’s unique learning path. Allowing space for his or her spiritual growth, as well, without attempting to teach them ‘how it is.’
-An education that strives to guard a child’s natural sense of wonder.
-Preparing the children to meet challenges, ask questions, and grow into themselves, rather than preparing them to fit into ‘the system.’
-A teacher who values his or her own inner work
-A schedule that respects both the children’s and teacher’s need for rest and family/social time.
Here is the schedule we are considering:
Labor Day through Memorial Day
MTW 8:30-3:00pm (specific days are flexible, but three consecutive are preferred).
Compensation:
27,000/year
As our school grows and gains stability, we hope to offer higher pay along with health insurance benefits.
Thank you for your time,
Carlie
