Waldorf inspired nature schooling co-op
Dec 27 2021 | Goloka Community School | Cedar Grove NC
We are looking for a flexible and loving assistant teacher to join our educational co-op. We are a nature forward group that teaches from the Oak Meadows curriculum.
This is a faith based (bhakti yoga/ Hindu) co-op. We do not require staff to be practitioners of the bhakti/hindu path. We just require an open mind and an open heart. Our school is vegetarian (no meat, fish or eggs) and we ask that all members only bring only vegetarian lunches and snacks.
Experience is preferred. Waldorf teacher training is not required. However, interest in Waldorf or Lifeways education is preferred.
The ideal teacher would have interest in serving children on the level of body, mind and soul. They will be eager to collaborate with others, utilize direct and non-violent communication and be interested in mindfulness practices. The ideal candidate would be interested in learning about our spiritual practices in order to better relate to the children in our co-op
There are children of various ages in our co-op. At times you may be asked to hold a baby or play with a toddler.
The hours would be 9:30 am - 1:30 pm Monday through Thursday
Position responsibilities include:
Working with children and taking direction from other teachers regarding classroom management, conflict resolution, communication and day-to-day responsibilities
Assisting during all teacher lead activities
Overseeing children in the play yards and forest
Assisting children with transitions
Guiding children with self-care (toileting, dressing, daily routines)
Providing First Aid as necessary
leading nature walks
collaborating with teachers on how to improve our school environment.
We have multiple breaks over the year. We offer 50% discounted tuition for all teachers.
Our hourly wages start at $13/hr
