Gain experience as a teacher assistant in our 3rd grade

The Davis Waldorf seeks a grades assistant teacher. The grades assistant provides additional support to the lead teacher and also serves as an opportunity for the assistant to gain experience and be mentored by a lead teacher.
General Responsibilities
The Assistant assists the lead teacher and special subject teachers in maintaining a harmonious and orderly classroom. This includes assisting in all facets of classroom activities, assisting in carrying out lesson plans and leading large and small groups of children.
Examples of Duties
Assists the teachers with the supervision of students who may exhibit emotional, behavioral or academic challenges.
Supervises class and individual students when teacher is occupied with other students or when directed by lead teacher to work with individuals or groups of students.
Supervises students during recess, snack or lunchtime periods.
Assists with general maintenance and cleaning of classroom during
job hours.
Displays respect for the lead teacher’s authority.
Assists with preparation of classroom supplies and equipment.
Displays discretion and confidentiality in communication
Assists in supervision of students outside the class when necessary.
Attends parent conferences as requested by the lead teacher.
Meets regularly with the lead teacher for planning and review of work.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Hours: Schedule to be determined between the hours of 8:00 to 3:00 M-Th and Fridays from 8-1:15. The assistant will also have one hour/week to meet with the lead teacher. This position may be budgeted at 25 hours/week.
