Middle and High School Eurythmy Teacher - 2022-23
Nov 29 2021 | Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School | Ghent, NY
Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School (HVS) is seeking a Eurythmy Teacher to work with students in Grades 6-12 beginning in September 2022. This position is full-time and comes with health insurance, tuition remission and other benefits. The starting base salary is $43,000 a year with an incremental raise of $340.00 for each year of full-time service as a Waldorf School teacher.
Our school features two beautiful Eurythmy rooms and an experienced piano accompanist is available for all classes. This position will join our Lower School Eurythmy teacher in carrying a developmental program that spans Nursery through Grade 12. Our school is committed to continuing our well-established Eurythmy program and hopes to rebuild opportunities for performing, guiding more advanced groups, and holding workshops for parents and faculty.
A Nursery through Grade 12 Waldorf School, HVS is situated on a 900-acre biodynamic farm surrounded by expansive views of the nearby Catskill and Berkshire Mountains. The school is 2.5 hours north of New York City. HVS is a branch of the Hawthorne Valley Association (HVA), which supports several Anthroposophical initiatives including the Hawthorne Valley Farm and Farmstore, a Farm Apprenticeship program, a Farmscape Ecology Program, the Alkion Waldorf teacher-training program, Adonis Press, and a Place-Based Learning Center. The local area abounds with additional initiatives including a Christian Community Church and the Berkshire-Taconic Branch of the Anthroposophical Society. Our diverse student body includes the children of co-workers from three nearby Camphill communities.
Interested applicants should have an undergraduate degree, should have completed Eurythmy teacher training, and should have had at least one year experience teaching Eurythmy in the upper grades.
Our teachers must demonstrate an unflagging devotion to children, a strong grounding in Waldorf Education, and a commitment to the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work that is so necessary in our age. In addition, we are looking for candidates dedicated to excellence in teaching and to developing strong, collaborative working relationships with colleagues, parents, and the wider community.
Please email a letter of interest along with a resume to Karin Almquist, School Director.
