We invite applications for an experienced Movement and Games Teacher. The Waldorf teaching philosophy engages the imagination with enlivening, fun-filled games that build and develop capacities for physical and inner growth through a wide range of movement and games, including after-school team sports and activities, schoolwide festivals, and the fifth grade Pentathlon. A strong movement foundation based on cooperation rather than competition is our objective so that our students can experience camaraderie and joy in the activity.

The Movement and Games teacher will have a strong awareness of the Games and Movement program’s role within the whole education at the Waldorf School of Philadelphia, including exploring and developing content that supports our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion goals.

The successful candidate will possess constructive, positive and inclusive interpersonal skills, and will be dependable and patient with children. You will be able to effectively teach children of all abilities, cultivate effective classroom management and ensure the appropriate mood and tone for the developmental stage of each class. With a Bachelor of Arts degree and experience teaching movement/games/physical education, you may also have a background in or knowledge of Waldorf education. However, other movement training and experience are also valued. The Movement and Games teacher will be expected to deepen their understanding of child development based on the philosophy of Waldorf education through continued professional development, such as Spacial Dynamics and/or Bothmer Gymnastics.

This is an immediate opening for a full-time position.
