Gardening Arts & Crafts Teacher

The Vancouver Waldorf School (VWS) is seeking a certified teacher to fill the part-time assignment of Grades 3, 7 & 8 gardening arts and crafts (total of 7 classes per week). Qualified candidates should have teaching experience, familiarity with gardening and composting, interest in working with chickens and bees, and a proven track record in project management. The teacher should be able to deliver the subjects in a creative and enlivened way, in keeping with the BC and Waldorf curriculum.
Duties include:
• planning and implementation of gardening and art installations;
• grounds beautification in collaboration with students, class teacher and parent volunteers;
• writing of lesson plans and reports;
• communicating with parents;
• attending faculty meetings & professional development.
Qualifications
• BC Teacher Certificate (must be able to meet BC Ministry of Education requirements)
• University Bachelor’s Degree
• An understanding of Waldorf Education & working knowledge of child development
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently but also as part of the larger connect of a team member
Terms of employment: temporary, part-time (.33-.54 FTE)
Location of work: North Vancouver, BC
