Middle School Art Teacher
Nov 02 2021 | Washington Waldorf School | Bethesda, Maryland
The Washington Waldorf School is seeking an experienced middle school (grades 6-8) art teacher, effective immediately.
This is a part-time position for five to nine 45-minute class periods per week, for the 2021-2022 school year, with the possibility of extending. The teacher is paid on a per class basis. In addition, there is also a possibility that the art teacher could serve as our school yearbook editor, for additional compensation, depending on the teacher’s interest.
The middle school art curriculum addresses drawing (graphite, pastel, charcoal, color pencil,) painting (watercolor,) and calligraphy (ink with brush & pen). Themes include rendering form through tonal studies; portrait drawing and the features of the human head; perspective drawing using both linear and color perspective; and drawing landscapes.
Requirements include a bachelor’s degree, middle school art teaching experience, and expertise, as demonstrated in a portfolio of personal and/or student work, in the subjects featured in the WWS middle school art curriculum. The ideal candidate will have active interest in Waldorf education and willingness to engage additional training in Waldorf art pedagogy.
Washington Waldorf is committed to building a more diverse and inclusive workforce, and we welcome applications from all interested individuals.
To apply for these positions, please email a cover letter, resume, and link to online portfolio to employment@washingtonwaldorf.org, attn: Steve Smith. No phone calls please.
