Extended Day Teacher
Oct 29 2021 | Cedarwood Waldorf School | Portland, OR
Cedarwood Waldorf School in Portland, OR, is seeking a qualified candidate to become our Grades Extended-day Lead Teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. This position is a 17.5 hour per week lead position, and its work hours are 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm, Monday through Friday. This teacher will oversee seven to twenty children eating snack, and engaging in free play.
Known as a progressive urban school, Cedarwood is located in SW Portland, an area known for its natural beauty, abundance of outdoor recreational activities and thriving foodie culture. Our relationship with Portland Parks and Recreation has allowed us use of adjacent Lair Hill Park, the first pesticide-free park in Portland, for our movement classes and recess. Portland has a robust Waldorf community, with six schools, a Waldorf high school, many home pre-schools, anthroposophical doctors, therapeutic eurythmists and the Portland Branch of the Anthroposophical Society.
Cedarwood Waldorf School is accredited by both AWSNA and NWAIS and currently has 258 students enrolled from Early Childhood through Grade Eight. Our special subject offerings include Spanish, Japanese, Practical Arts, Movement, Eurythmy, and Music. Cedarwood Waldorf School offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
Because this position requires in-person work and is student and/or visitor facing, complete vaccination against coronavirus disease 2019 (also known as COVID-19) is required. CWS complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, and state law equivalents, for individuals unable to be vaccinated due to a medical condition or a sincerely held religious belief.
We invite teachers who had experience in working with children and are interested in pursuing a path to become a Waldorf teacher to submit cover letter, resume and three references to:
Chiaki Uchiyama, Pedagogical Director
