First Grade Class Teacher for 2022
Oct 28 2021 | Mountain Laurel Waldorf School | New Paltz, N.Y.
First Grade Class Teacher
Mountain Laurel Waldorf School, located in the heart of New Paltz, NY is seeking a First Grade Class Teacher for the 2022 school year.
A love of teaching and training in Waldorf Education is expected with our ideal candidate being a certified Waldorf Teacher with classroom experience. This candidate should also have an interest and impulse to work in collaboration with colleagues and with the Anthroposophical principles of Waldorf Education.
A Nursery through Eighth Grade school, Mountain Laurel Waldorf School was founded in 1983 by a group of parents searching for an educational alternative for their children. The school is housed in a charming Victorian mansion, circa 1876, which is in walking distance from the village center of New Paltz, Historic Huguenot Street (the oldest street in America), the State University of New York (SUNY) campus, and a large community playground where our elementary school children play. Our music program includes both an after school chamber group and recorder ensemble. The school currently has a mandate group system of governance and a committed College of Teachers. Our staff numbers near twenty five, with an active and supportive Board of Trustees. A full-time salaried faculty member is entitled to benefits: health and dental insurance, 401K, professional development, and tuition remission.
Located in the beautiful Mid-Hudson Valley, New Paltz is approximately ninety miles from New York City. It is home to many active artist and ecological groups, as well as the renowned Mohonk Mountain House skating pavilion and nature preserve. In addition, two major centers of Anthroposophical endeavor, Spring Valley with Sunbridge College and Hawthorne Valley are close by.
Mountain Laurel Waldorf School is an equal opportunity employer that does not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, age, gender, or any protected class. We acknowledge that a diversity of ethnicities, nationalities, socioeconomic backgrounds, gender expressions, sexual orientations, learning differences, and life experiences within our community enhance our school’s learning environment, and we are committed to cultivating equity and inclusion. People of color and others underrepresented in our community are encouraged to apply.
If you are interested in joining us at Mountain Laurel Waldorf School, please send a letter of interest, a resume, which includes a biography and at least two references, all to the attention of the Personnel Committee email:personnel@mountainlaurel.org.
We look forward to hearing from you.
