First Grade Teacher for 2022-2023 School Year
Oct 27 2021 | New Amsterdam School | New York, NY
Come join our warm, supportive faculty in teaching next year's first grade! The ideal candidate will have a Waldorf certificate and teaching experience; however, we will consider candidates who are still in training who have been recommended by their training program.
Our school is located in the East Village, a unique and historical neighborhood. New Amsterdam School is aesthetically beautiful, and our parents and faculty describe it as an oasis or sanctuary in the city. We also have a vibrant and diverse faculty and parent community. Currently, our families and faculty speak over 15 different languages. Our community is committed to being a welcoming school to a diverse population.
The school was founded in 2006 and we offer parent-child classes through 5th grade. We maintain small classes in the grades. Japanese, Spanish, Dance, Handwork, and Violin are offered to our elementary school students, and we are fortunate to have access to a large community garden and one public park located within a few blocks of our campus, making outdoor excursions a daily experience. Our Kindergarten class is fully outdoors all year round.
We are a full member of WECAN and an associate member of AWSNA.
This is a full-time, salaried position with excellent benefits, including:
- health insurance,
- support for summer preparation courses
- an outside mentor in addition to in-house support.
New Amsterdam School offers faculty:
- small classes
- an engaged, supportive, innovative faculty,
- freedom to develop curriculum with current teachers, and
- support to grow as a teacher,
To apply, send your resume, the contact information for three references, and a cover letter to director@newamsterdamchildhood.org
