Bookkeeper

BOOKKEEPER
Primary Function
The Bookkeeper will provide efficient and organized bookkeeping support.
As a member of the Administration team, the Bookkeeper will promote a friendly, welcoming atmosphere
in the administration offices. The position is hourly at 10 hours per week. Hours are flexible but once
determined should be consistent.
Qualifications
The Bookkeeper should be friendly, warm, and courteous with strong listening skills and be personable and
professional on the phone and when greeting people in the office. The Bookkeeper should have the ability
to establish rapport, handle personal and confidential information with discretion. The Bookkeeper should
be in harmony with Waldorf school philosophy and its educational principles, techniques, and methods.
Priority will be given to candidates with a strong interest or background in expanding and supporting
initiatives related to diversity and equity.
This position requires the ability to prioritize and multitask, take initiative, and work independently as well
as part of a team. It requires strong organizational skills and the ability to handle short periods of highvolume work, often in a distracting environment. Bookkeeping expertise gained through a minimum of two
years of equivalent-level work experience is desired.
Requirements
• Proven bookkeeping experience
• Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles
• Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records
• Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel
• Customer service orientation and negotiation skills
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• A degree and/or two years of experience in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration is
preferred
Responsibilities
• Process accounts payable in a timely manner
• Record cash receipts and make bank deposits
• Track and enter payroll and reimbursements to faculty and staff
• Create financial reports as needed
• Record general ledger entries
• Conduct a monthly reconciliation of every bank account

• Reconcile credit and debit card purchases including confirming receipt collections
• Process non-tuition related charges into our tuition management system
• Respond to parent inquiries about their accounts
Accountability
The Bookkeeper will comply and keep up-to-date with school policies, reports to the Business Manager and
is accountable to the Board of Trustees. This person will participate in meetings with the Administration
team as necessary. This is an hourly (at 10 hour per week), year-round position that will be reviewed
quarterly as outlined in the Staff Development guidelines.
