Special Education Resource Specialist Teacher 2021-2022
Job Description
FTE .5 Part-Time
The Resource Specialist provides:
• Support for the instructional program for students with special needs
• On-going student assessment/progress monitoring and evaluations
• Planning/coordination/scheduling with general education teachers
• A positive learning environment for instruction in all content areas
• Effective communication with parents and teachers regarding the IEP
Essential Teaching Duties and Responsibilities
• Develops IEPs for the purpose of meeting the individual needs of exceptional students
• Evaluates students for the purpose of identifying student needs
• Works cooperatively with the team to determine eligibility for services
• Coordinates special education services and service providers to maintain the integrity of the IEP
• Advocates for the needs of the individual student(s) on an IEP
• Teaches and instructs students for the purpose of ensuring student success
• Consults/collaborates with staff, parents and agencies for the purpose of an appropriate delivery of services
• Schedules service time for students for the purpose of providing effective services for students
• Knowledge/skills/education & certification to provide appropriate instruction in all core academic subjects
• Attends weekly TEAM meetings
Essential Administrative Duties and Responsibilities
• Schedules IEP meetings including google invitations, creation and collection of Notice of Meetings
• Copies, uploads, affirms, attests and files confidential, special education documents and records
• Disperses confidential files and forms to parents and teachers
• Performs duties and assumes other responsibilities assigned by the Director of Student Services
• Participates in maintaining a clean and organized optimal, classroom environment
• Schedules SST Meetings for General Education Interventions
• Emails reminders for all meetings
• Attends SST Meetings as a note taker, when available
Additional Responsibilities
• Maintains professional boundaries
• Supports every student’s right to learn in a hostile-free environment
• Ensures confidentiality of student records
• Upholds Board Policies addressing student conduct, discipline, and attendance
• Reports child abuse or neglect
• Attends weekly faculty meetings
