Principal
Oct 18 2021 | Motueka Steiner School | Motueka, New Zealand
Does the idea of leading a school on a farm campus interest you? Would living and working at the top of the South Island of New Zealand with access to the beaches and mountains of Nelson Tasman and the outdoor activities available in the Abel Tasman National Park sound exciting?
After the promotion of our highly respected and valued Establishment Principal we are now looking for a Principal to lead our school into the future and enrich our learning culture with Steiner philosophy.
After privately operating for 18 years, we are now a fully state-integrated school. We have moved onto our new farm campus and everyone is loving the new classrooms and access to the 13 hectare farm. The farm land boasts existing school gardens, an outdoor kitchen that the students are working in as part of the Farm to Table programme and a new Outdoor Classroom that allows students to gain skills in bushcraft and connecting with nature. The school farm is on the outskirts of Motueka, overlooking the Tasman Sea with views to the Mt. Arthur ranges. You have to come and see for yourself the incredible setting and feel of this beautiful school!
We have a diverse multicultural student population of 95 tamariki from Years 1-8 and are the only Rudolf Steiner school in Te Tau Ihu (the Top of the South Island). Our school offers a full Steiner/Waldorf curriculum connecting with Steiner Playgroup and Kindergarten, through to the end of intermediate school.
Our new Principal will work with empathy and understanding to build and nurture connections with the children, teaching body, staff, and the families that make up our school community. Are you that person?
We ideally seek:
Someone with experience in Steiner education and anthroposophical values and bringing them forward in Aotearoa’s modern teaching and learning environments.
An experienced leader with excellent and timely communication skills to ensure staff, tamariki, and whanau are fully engaged in the new state-integrated Steiner school.
A strong leader who is able to enhance and evolve the collaborative ethos that has carried the school thus far.
Someone who thrives on the challenge and reward of being accountable for the successful management and leadership of the school.
Someone with senior management experience
An experienced educator with proven excellent Steiner classroom practice skills who can support, coach and mentor teachers in Steiner teaching theory and application.
We will welcome the successful applicant to join our community at this exciting time, to move the school forward, whilst keeping the Steiner special character at the heart of our work.
For further enquiries, please contact Melanie Stinka, Member of the Establishment Board of Trustees, on recruitment@motueka.steiner.school.nz, or call Melanie on +64 21 261 2439 or visit our website at www.motueka.steiner.school.nz
